AUTO DETAILING

Is Paying for Car Detailing Worth It or You Can Do It Yourself?

“Detailing is a craft where passion meets patience. It’s the little things that create perfection.” – Renny Doyle, Master Detailer

So, have you ever looked at your car after a week (or maybe a month. I won’t judge) of driving through muddy roads, eating crisps on the road or letting your dog poop all over the seats? Yeah, it’s not exactly a vibe, is it? Sure, some people will grab a bucket, a sponge and a playlist of their favourite tunes. And then spend hours scrubbing every inch of their car. Honestly, good for them. But let’s be realistic. Most of us don’t have the time, patience or energy.

That’s where car detailers come in. They’re like magicians. No, scratch that, more like artists, except instead of paint and brushes, they use vacuums, polishes and whatever that spray is that makes your dashboard shine (you know the one). And the result?
Chef’s kiss. Suddenly your old hatchback feels like a luxury car. It’s amazing how a deep clean can make you fall in love with your car again, as if it were whispering “take me to Paris” (or at least to a nice petrol station).

Take people like JWDetailing in West Midlands, UK. They’ve built up an almost cult-like following for their attention to detail in these TikTok videos where they spent hours cleaning, including a single air vent.
Crazy, right? But it’s also strangely satisfying. You can almost feel the dirt being pulled out through the screen. (Look it up, it’s worth a look: JWDetailing Videos).

It’s not just about cleanliness. It’s about the experience. Imagine driving a car that smells fresher than a spring garden, with leather seats that feel so comfortable.
Even the tyres are pampered and polished until they shine in the sunlight, like giving your car a spa day.

But then there are those who say, “Why pay someone to do it? Just do it yourself”. OK, Karen, but when was the last time you cleaned behind your own fridge?
Exactly. Some things are worth outsourcing. Besides, professionals have tools we don’t like steam cleaners, waxes that repel water better than a duck’s back, and knowledge. Did you know that certain products can ruin your paint if applied incorrectly? Yeah, I didn’t either until I saw a YouTube video (I couldn’t find it) of a guy totally messing up his detailing job. Trust the professionals.

And here’s the kicker, a detailed car can actually increase its value. Yes, if you’re planning to sell your car or trade it in for something nicer, turning up with a vehicle that looks (and smells) immaculate might just get you a better deal.
Even dealers admit that detailing increases resale appeal.

So whether you’re in Manchester, Tokyo or Cape Town, there’s someone nearby to give your car the TLC it deserves. Sure, it might seem a bit indulgent, but sometimes it’s like ordering dessert when you’re already full. Life is short, so make your car feel special too.

But the next time you see a van with a car detailing logo, take a second look. They could be the heroes you didn’t know you needed.

So what do you think? Do you think you can give your car a detailing start yourself?

Until next time!
