Every Business Needs a Modern Website (You Can Help Build It)

“We don’t just build websites, we build websites that SELLS”
― Christopher Dayagdag

Okay, so let’s talk websites. You know, those things you scroll through every day when you’re definitely not procrastinating. Every business needs one now, right? And not just any website, it’s gotta be sharp, sleek and actually useful. But, shockingly, I still stumble upon sites that look like they’ve time-travelled from the days of floppy disks and dial-up tones. It’s honestly painful to look at some of them with pixelated logos, Comic Sans and menus. That, makes you want to scream.

A lot of business owners don’t realise how much a bad website can scare off potential customers. Imagine this, you’re craving pizza and Google “best pizza near me”.
You click on a website but it takes forever to load. Then when it does, it looks like it was built by someone’s cousin back in ‘03, with weird colours and no actual way to order online. You’d probably bail and head to the next link, right?

It’s not just businesses, either. Loads of regular people want to start blogs like sharing their cooking experiments; travel photos or even just their thoughts on life. But they get overwhelmed because they don’t know where to start, so they just… don’t.
I mean, who even teaches this stuff at school?

That’s where a website creator (yes, You!) steps in. You could be the one swooping in to save the day. Build the website and make it look amazing like a modern art gallery, but online.
If you know a bit about search engine optimisation (SEO, for short), that’s the thing that helps websites pop up on Google when people search for stuff. Oh, and don’t forget social media. A good website should feel like it’s connected to everything else – Insta, Facebook, even TikTok (if that’s your vibe).

Here’s an idea: specialise. A few years ago, (true story). I noticed heaps of law firms had websites that were… bad. Like, really bad. I’m talking pages that wouldn’t load, outdated designs, and no actual way to contact the lawyer.
If I’d had more time back then, I would’ve pitched them my services. I knew the legal lingo and could’ve helped them with content too. Imagine offering to write a blog post on “10 Legal Tips for Landlords” and tying that into their services. That’s like giving them a gold-plated key to unlock a new world of clients.

And let’s be real, everyone has that niche they know a little too much about. Maybe you’re into fitness and could help personal trainers with sites that showcase their services.
Or you’re a foodie who could build the ultimate portfolio for chefs and bakers. It’s like matching puzzle pieces.

By the way, take a quick look at this British bakery site Humming Bird Bakery. Their website’s a feast for the eyes – simple, clean and full of mouth-watering photos.
Imagine if it had clunky navigation or weird fonts? It would totally ruin the vibe.

The best part? You don’t need to know everything right away. Platforms like WordPress and Wix make it super easy to start (kind of like a “paint by numbers” for websites).
Add your flair, maybe a splash of colour here and there, and you’re off to the races.

So yeah, whether it’s businesses stuck in the past or bloggers too nervous to start, there’s a huge gap waiting for you to fill it. Just remember to keep it simple, stylish, and user-friendly. Nobody wants a website that feels like an IKEA instruction manual. Well, unless you’re building for IKEA… but that’s a different story.

Until next time!
